This is a real opportunist collection. Basically, I went to a couple of gigs where albums were being sold, and I noticed that signed albums were only marginally more expensive than the standard ones. As I've said, anything remotely interesting will start a collection, so here we are...
| Gerry
Anderson's New Captain Scarlet Artbook and DVD |
Bought at a charity auction at
Pinewood Studios, for the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance
Trust (of which Mr. Anderson is president), the Artbook is a 'style
guide' for companies wishing to produce Captain Scarlet merchandise
(and I hope they make models of the vehicles!), while the DVD is the
first three episodes of the new CGI TV series. When auctioned, it was
signed by Gerry Anderson, but I also got it signed by the voice actors
behind Captain Scarlet and Lieutenant Green, who happened to be in the
audience as well. I was very nearly outbid by a member of the
production team, but they seemed to be the only people bidding... |
| Maplebee: Chasing Eva Music CD |
Excellent double CD album which
one of my colleagues described - quite acurately, I suppose - as "All
About Eve updated for the Noughties". Very different from Maplebee as
part of Vertigo Angels, Queen Adreena or Mediaeval Baebes, and the
insert features many pictures of Maplebee herself. The signature is on
the back cover. |
| Mediaeval Baebes: Undrentide Music CD |
Excellent album, with a very well produced insert and a bloody amazing on-body print on the CD. Signatures are in a fold-out section at the back, but two signatures are missing: Donna McKevitt, who was at the gig but didn't perform on the album, and Nicole Sleet, who wasn't at the gig but did perform on the album. |
| Miranda Sex Garden: Carnival of Souls Music CD |
Reasonable, if lyrically adolescent, album with a well-printed insert. The band's signatures turn up on the group photo centre spread. |
| Mediaeval Baebes Music Video DVD |
Not quite just like being there,
as the quality of recording is quite low, but this is a decent
collection of songs, filmed at what appears to be a very small,
intimate gathering, rather than the usual Baebes gig. I bought this at
Joust, then got the six Baebes who were there (Cylindra, Emily, Maple
Bee, Marie, Audrey and newcomer Claire Rabbitt) to sign the insert. |
