Microman - since 1974

30th Anniversary Micro Action Series - Street Fighter

Only two figures so far in this Capcom licensed series. I bought these on a whim, rather than because I really 'needed' them. My real hope is that they'll continue this line and use other Capcom characters from Streetfighter and other games. The ideal, of course, would be a Microman Morrigan. Both figures come with a background - a piece of brick wall - wich has pegs and holes for pegs to help create more dramatic poses. If you want a flying kick, you can have one; if you want a more basic, standing pose, you can have that too. Pretty useful, and very simple... It's just a shame they can't be linked up to make bigger backgrounds.

Chun Li, in her traditional Street Fighter 2 garb. The head, to be quite honest, is not up to much, but the rest of the figure is very well realised. From the hair-bun coverings and their ribbons, to the puffy sleeves, the spiked bracelets and the 'skirt', the extra pieces on this figure really add to her character. I'd be interested to know if Capcom plan to make a Street Fighter Zero/Alpha version of Chun Li, but I suspect it would be comparatively boring, as her costume in those games is much less elaborate.

They've even chosen a shimmering colour for her silk 'dress' which makes the rubber look reasonably authentic. The paint job is pretty good, and the lower leg is completely custom-made for this figure, because of her boots.

Sakura also has a fairly impressive custom costume, including the famously revealing skirt (and, yes, she's wearing red knickers). Her face isn't any better than that of Chun Li, but her headband thing sensibly hangs down rather than sticking up in a vain attempt to look dramatically swooshy.

The skirt is disappointingly stiff, despite being made of soft rubber, and it limits the range of movement offered by her legs. You can't put this figure into that victory pose where she does three high kicks (and sometimes loses her shoe on the last). If anyone has the patience, it would be possible to make a stop-motion animation of this figure doing Sakura's victory dance...

The glove things are pretty good, but it takes some doing to keep them with her hands, and the 'socks' suffer similar problems.
